Tour Series Woking - how was it for you?

On Tuesday 2 June, Woking played host to the Tour Series, a high speed professional cycling event which took place in the heart of Woking Town Centre. The action was covered by ITV4 who played out an exciting programme the following day, showcasing all that Woking has to offer.

The event, which saw schoolchildren, teachers, business people, members of the general public and professional cyclists get on their bikes and zoom around a 1.5km town centre circuit, was organised by Cycle Woking (a partnership of Woking Borough Council and Surrey County Council) along with Sweetspot, the organisers of the Tour of Britain. The Tour Series gave the town an opportunity to celebrate all things cycling and the crowds were entertained by musicians, bicycle ballerinas, unicyclists and tricksters.

Many local people took some excellent photos at the event and the Council is hoping to be able to use these to create a large display at some point in the future. In the meantime, here are a number of some of the photos that capture the highlights of the day.

How was it for you?

As this is the first time that Woking has staged such an event, representatives from Cycle Woking would now like to know what people thought about it. If you have a view, good or bad, please take a moment to email tourseries@woking.gov.uk and explain how it was for you.
