Woking Borough Council

Winter 2011/2012

Why don't you..?

… volunteer in the community?

Voluntary run organisations are the backbone of our community. Just about every charitable organisation across the Borough use volunteers. Indeed, many would not be able to provide the services they do without them.

From trustee to administrator, chairman to tea-maker, planting trees to paying bills, volunteering can add a new dimension to your life and the lives of those for whom you volunteer. It offers you a chance to become involved in a project or organisation that you really care about.

Volunteers make a massive contribution to the local community, but can also make a huge difference to your life.

Volunteering can help you:

  • build confidence and self-esteem

  • make a direct difference to your local community

  • gain new skills

  • broaden your horizons

  • make new friends.
